Decking in Stoke-on-Trent

Timber and composite decking with balustrades — an outdoor floor for entertaining, built on a sub-frame that's as solid as everything else we do.

Decking built like a structure, not a DIY weekend

Decking is brilliant for the gardens where paving struggles — sloped plots, raised doors, awkward levels. A well-built deck floats over the problem and gives you a warm, level outdoor floor for dining, entertaining or just catching the evening sun. SB Constructions Ltd designs and builds timber and composite decking across Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding towns.

The part you never see matters most: the sub-frame. Ours are built from pressure-treated structural timber, properly supported and ventilated, so the deck stays solid and true instead of bouncing and sagging after a couple of winters. Balustrades, steps and lighting-ready details are all part of the conversation.

Choose classic timber for warmth and value, or composite boards for a near-zero-maintenance deck that keeps its colour without annual staining. We fit both and will talk you through the trade-offs honestly.

Decking questions, answered

Timber or composite decking — which is better?

Timber costs less up front and has a warmth composite can't quite match, but needs cleaning and re-treating to stay looking good. Composite costs more initially but shrugs off weather, doesn't splinter and needs almost no maintenance. We fit both and will recommend whichever genuinely suits your garden and budget.

Is decking good for a sloped garden?

It's often the best answer — a deck can float over a slope on a raised sub-frame, giving you a level usable space without moving tonnes of earth. For bigger level changes we can combine decking with groundworks and retaining walls.
